We have found a way to make getting text updates much easier. If you'd like, you can still check out all the stuff below the video, or you can just send a text to 40404 with "Follow SWBCyouth". You'll get a reply that says "who is this." Reply with whatever username you'd like. Then you're set! It's now that easy. Let adam@sayrewoods.org know if you have any questions.
In response to people's questions about how the whole Twitter thing works, we're posting some step by step instructions. If you want to know a little about Twitter to begin with, check this official Twitter video:
The function that the youth ministry will use it for is simply to send out "Tweets" (updates) with announcements, no more than 4 times per month. You can elect to have these sent straight to your cell for no cost (standard text message rates apply, which means no cost if texts are in your cell plan). So, if you want them, here's what to do:
1. Go to www.twitter.com and sign up for an account
2. Sign into your account.
3. Follow this link: twitter.com/swbcyouth or use the find a friend link at the top, click on "search" and find "swbcyouth". From here, you can also enter your email to see if anyone in your contact list uses Twitter.
4. Under the Sayre Woods tree and name "SWBC Youth", click on the gray "follow" button.
5. Once you follow the youth ministry, click on "- device updates off". Then click on the "on" button.
6. Be sure to check your settings (link at top right), and look at "Devices" to enter your cell phone information so that you can receive the updates via text if you want them.
